HoYoverse invited us to make the cel-animated segment for their newest Genshin Impact trailer. We grabbed our digital brushes and animated an explosive, painterly world of fireballs, electricity and a pretty-boy protagonist.

Gestural, but precise.

We aimed for the sweet spot between anime precision and expressive brushwork. Turns out it takes a lot of effort to make a character look this effortless.
